As the story go's.......John Lennon forever being the prankster that he was wanted the tone put on there so that anyone with a dog in the house would wonder why their pet was going nuts. John however, was not very technically savvy and didn't realize that record players of the time really weren't capable of producing sounds at really high frequencies.
