I need advice about my future in the US (huntsville alabama)?

I am a panamanian high school graduate (well my graduation is in december) and I just got my Greencard to emigrate to the US. I am going to live in Hunstville, Alabama with my uncle. Im going to work with my uncle and my plan is to save money so I can afford college (UAH preferably). I am going to work for a year and within that year I plan to take the SAT. After a year of living there, I will be able to attend college at resident price (as an alabama resident). Im not sure about how is Huntsville, or Alabama in that matter, and Imnot sure about how much time I need to live in Alabama before I become elegible to be a state resident.
